Oprah Winfrey and Arthur C. Brooks write that people actually do have tremendous power to determine how they feel. The concept can work for people who work in clinics and hospitals. I write about using the same approach for one persistent problem that doctors, nurses and clinical professionals routinely face in the workplace. We can decide how we feel about difficult patient interactions.

My twins are now 30 so that means I have thirty years of experience raising twins. I have learned a few things about parenting that I will share and in a future blog post. There is no science or evidence here. Self-reflection, kindness, and accepting help will get you through the challenges and joys of parenting.

Our patients have access to the medical record and are reading them even before the doctors and nurses on the case. Sometimes we pass judgement and communicate bias with our words and faulty impressions. We can cause unnecessary anxiety and suffering. We need to watch the words we enter into the digital record.

It’s Britain so of course, we visited a castle. This one actually served as the prison for a king. Carisbrooke Castle is well worth visiting near Newport on the Isle of Wight. We checked out Ventnor and Yarmouth too in the last of my Isle of Wight posts. We had a lovely week.
